How the calculation works

The calculator subtracts your down payment from the cash price, then divides the financed amount across your selected months. Reducing balance applies monthly interest to the amount still outstanding; flat rate applies the annual rate to the original financed amount. Any fee you enter is added to total payable.

Flat vs reducing balance

The two methods can produce different totals even when the rate and tenure look identical. Ask for the total payable, all fees, early-settlement terms and the payment schedule, not only the advertised monthly amount.

Tips for comparing plans

  • Compare total payable with the cash price.
  • Check whether a fee is an amount or a percentage.
  • Confirm the down payment and the exact tenure.
  • Ask how early settlement changes the remaining balance.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an offer from a lender or seller?

No. This is an illustration based only on the values you enter. Actual plans, fees and rates are set by the seller or lender.

What is the difference between flat and reducing balance?

A flat-rate illustration applies the annual rate to the original financed amount. A reducing-balance illustration calculates interest on the remaining balance each month.

Why can my seller's figure differ?

Real plans can include different rounding, taxes, fees, payment dates or settlement rules. Compare total payable and every fee rather than the monthly figure alone.
