IP53 water and dust resistance explained
The solids digit means: Dust protected (limited ingress). The liquids digit means: Spraying water.
The listed protection describes controlled testing; follow the manufacturer's limits.
Lab tests use fresh water under controlled conditions. Seawater, soap, hot water, steam and impact pressure can still cause damage. Seals wear with age and drops, and many warranties do not cover liquid damage; check the manufacturer's terms.
